If you’re only going to see Star Trek Into Darkness purely because Benedict Cumberbatch is in it then just get out.
Sure he’s a great actor and I’m a big fan of his but I don’t see the point in going to watch a film just because he’s in it.
I have never ever seen Star Trek, so I wouldn’t feel right being there anyway, but I wouldn’t go just for Benedict as brilliant an actor he is.. Just no.

Seriously?  What OTHER reason do you need to see ANY movie?  If you enjoy an actor’s work, you should support them by going to see the movies they make.  Just…this post makes NO SENSE.  You wouldn’t ‘feel right’? What?  As a lifelong Trekkie and huge Cumberbatch fan, I say, THE MORE THE MERRIER.  If you only go to see STID and become a Trek fan as a consequence, that’s GREAT.  If you only see the movie for Ben, that’s fine too.  It’s all fine!

I applaud such a wonderful attitude for someone of my parents’ generation.  I am 49.  Nothing wrong with hoping to see changes, but please be realistic.  It’s going to be a long time before American TV will ever show anything of the sort.  Believe me, I wish that was not true.  Someday, there may be a version of Holmes/Watson in a romantic male/male relationship, but not in the near future…

Mind, I said AMERICAN TV.  I know other countries are more progressive in this area than we are.

My two cents on the whole Mary Morstan situation….as someone much older than most of you, and American (where we will never see our slash ships become canon in my lifetime)…
